Thailand to Buy New Training and Attack Aircraft

Thailand to Buy New Training and Attack Aircraft 27 August, 2020

The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) is changing its inventory of training aircraft. The government announced that it had set up a budget for training and the supply of light attack aircraft.

At-6E Wolverine and T-6C Texan II will be procured for RTAF, defence sources said. A total of 24 will be delivered from the platforms specified to be configured in accordance with the needs of the country.

The procurement agreement will include air-to-air missile integration and the production of aircraft in Thailand. If missile integration is successful, the AT-6 TH will be the first variant with a certificate of carrying air-to-air missiles.

THE AT-6 aircraft were developed as the ground offensive model of the T-6 Texan II. RTAF is operationally using the Pilatus PC-9 as a training aircraft.
