Taiwan Unveils New UAV Development 18 August, 2019

Taiwan’s National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST )is pursuing a new medium-altitude long-endurance UAV development. The agency has unveiled a full-scale mock-up of a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at the 2019 Taipei Aerospace & Defence Technology Exhibition (TADTE).


Two Teng Yun prototypes - which have been marked MU-1611 and MU-1612 - possess an operating range in excess of 1,000 km, flight endurance of 24 hours, and ceiling of 25,000 ft (7,620 m). These vehicles have been proven capable of performing autonomous navigation as well as automatic take-off and landing during extensive flight trials since their introduction.
