The Turkish Woman’s First Flight 12 October, 2015

Turkish aviation, whose preliminary establishment dates back to 1911, embodies many firsts not only for the history of Turkish aviation itself but also of world aviation. The aircraft made its debut as a war instrument at the Italo-Turkish War, known as the Tripolitanian War. In this war, the Italians claimed their place in history by using aircrafts for reconnaissance. The first flight over territories in today’s Libya, first airborne leaflet propaganda and first artillery spotting also took place during this period. As for the Turks; other firsts in the campaign included operational air casualties from ground fire, hitting and shooting down an enemy plane, as well as taking an enemy pilot as prisoner.
