Air-to-surface unguided rockets have an important place for the ground attack capability of many air platforms, especially attack helicopters.

Air-to surface rockets, which are one of the best choices for target-rich environments with salvo launching capability is commonly using despite developing technology. The USA has signed a new procurement agreement for the Hydra Rockets, which are widely used in the West, especially for attack helicopters. Under the $ 3.4 billion contract signed with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, the U.S. will acquire thousands of 70 mm Hydra 70 rockets for the US Army. The agreement will remain valid until September 30, 2026.

Hydra 70s, which are usually using with from the 7 or 19 tube launchers, consist of three main components. One of the nine different warheads equipped with one of the point detonating, omni-directional, remote-set fuze(s) is ready for the task by being combined with the MK66 Mod4 rocket motor. Hydra 70s, which can also be used from many fixed-wing platforms, especially A-10 Thunderbolt II and F-16 Fighting Falcon, can reach 10,500 effective range.
