UAV Boost by Israel December 21, 2016

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) announced on 19 December that the service will multiply the number of Hermes 900 Kochav Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that it fields by six within next year. Although the current number of the IAF’s Hermes 900 UAVs were not disclosed, Israel wants to improve its  intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities by operating additional UAVs. The Elbit System’s Hermes 900 UAV is a medium altitude, long endurance (MALE) class vehicle. The UAV made its first flight in December, 2009 and performed many operational missions during 2014’s operation ‘Protective Edge’.
