UK-Norway Cooperation in Submarine Hunt

UK-Norway Cooperation in Submarine Hunt 10 May, 2018

The UK and Norway will cooperate on maritime patrol aircraft (MPA), the UK Defence Ministry announced on 3 May.

Countries will cooperate in maintenance, training and operations of P-8A Poseidon aircraft in the North Atlantic, which would not only cut costs but also boost operational power in the region. Both countries will own the aircraft soon. Defence Minister Guto Bebb said they were investing £3 billion in their own capability and cooperating with Norway will take it to a higher level.

UK has ordered nine Boeing P-8A Poseidon MPAs to deploy at Royal Air Force (RAF) Lossiemouth Air Base in Scotland. Poseidon P-8A aircraft is expected to enhance surveillance capacity of the UK Forces, including underwater and surface platforms detection, search and rescue, intelligence.
