Vertical Landing on 'Queen Elizabeth' 16 December, 2016

The UK Ministry of Defence approved US Marine Corps’ (USMC’s) F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters (JSFs) to embark aboard the Royal Navy's new Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier on its maiden operational deployment in 2021. The UK Secretary of Defence Michael Fallon announced the news on 15 December, during a meeting with his US counterpart Ashton Carter held in London. USMC’s F35s will operate alongside the Royal Navy and Air Force’s platforms.
