Veto by-passed

Veto by-passed August 1, 2019

There has been a significant development in the Air Force’s long-standing aircraft debate. Answering the request of the Air Force, Bulgaria signed an agreement with the US to supply eight F-16s. Under the 1.2 billion $ deal, the US will supply ammunition, logistical support and maintenance equipment as well as aircraft. The agreement was previously vetoed by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev for financial reasons. According to the obtained information, four of aircraft will be delivered in 2023 and the remaining will be delivered at the beginning of 2024. Six of aircraft will be in single-seat and two aircraft will be in twin-seat configuration.
