As a follow-up to our 44th Issue published in January 2017, which covered the rising tide of populism in Asia with special reference to China, India and Japan, it is time to shed light on the new members joining this camp.
Besides the United States and Europe, the Asian Continent also suffers from a fair share of extremist right-wing tendencies. Enlarging their room of manoeuvre through populism, such leaders fuel instability both at the state and regional levels. Thus, it would be beneficial to trace the root causes of this burning issue.
