Turkish Bases in Africa: Cost-Benefit Analysis July 9, 2018

It has been underscored that the so-called “bases” established in the former Ottoman territories of Somalia and Sudan would serve the best interests of Turkey in terms of image, regional security and export of “indigenous and national” defence products. However, it should be calculated that this development might further help deteriorate Turkish-Gulf relations, trigger terror attacks against the Turkish personnel and cripple Turkish agriculture and animal husbandry even more.
